When playing with your food is a good thing

My daughter is graduating high school this year. But I recall when she was in Kindergarten. It seems like only yesterday. 12 years ago, parents were allowed and encouraged to make snacks and bring them in once a week.

As most of you are already aware, I can't do anything "normal". What would normal have been? Maybe we could have sent Alex to school with a bag of chocolate chip cookies. Maybe we could have sent her to school with Rice Krispies Treats. Nope, too easy. But these are Kindergartners, we do need to keep the flavors simple.

Rice Krispies Treats are a great idea, but let's make it a little more exciting, let's use Fruity Pebbles.

Fruity Pebbles Ice Cream Cone Treats

Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1 (10 oz.) pkg. marshmallows or 4 c. miniature marshmallows
6 c. Fruity Pebbles cereal

Instructions

Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted; remove from heat. Add cereal and stir until well coated.

Style Points

Now we get to play with our food! Take an ice cream scoop, and scoop the treats into cake ice cream cones. Pour a little Magic Shell over the top and refrigerate for about an hour. Chocolate jimmies are a nice touch too.

These were a hit! Now, with Alex a mere 4 months away from graduation (sniffle), I look back at days like this and smile.

Until tomorrow, I wish you all Peace, Love, and Hollandaise Sauce!

*Special Thanks to Leah Bumgarner for reminding me to have fun playing with my food!

*****UPDATE
Last night at 1:15AM Alex decided to make Churros (sorry no pictures of finished product).
I woke up to the following on my counter:If you can't make that out it says "C6H12O6 + Imitation Tree Bark". My child is a freak, a genius, but a freak none the less. Either way I think Phyllis and I did ok!

Nice Denis. I appreciate that you give instruction for playing with your food in a way that will allow you to play with it now and enjoy the consumption of it later. Well done.
